Chevy Silverado 1500 Wheel Specifications
Bolt Pattern
All Chevrolet Silverado 1500 models from 2014-2026 use a 6ร139.7mm bolt pattern (also written as 6ร5.5"). This is the GM full-size truck standard, shared with the GMC Sierra 1500, Chevy Tahoe, Chevy Suburban, GMC Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade. Wheels are directly interchangeable across these GM platforms, which creates an enormous OEM used-wheel market for Silverado owners.
Important: This bolt pattern is NOT compatible with Ford F-150 (6ร135mm) or Ram 1500 (5ร139.7mm). A "fits all half-ton trucks" claim is misleading.
Hub Bore
Center bore diameter: 78.1mm. Consistent across all 2014-2026 Silverado 1500 trims.
Offset Range
- WT / Custom OEM: +31mm to +44mm offset
- LT / RST OEM: +31mm offset
- LTZ / High Country OEM: +24mm offset (deeper look)
- Trail Boss / ZR2 OEM: +24mm offset with 1"-2" suspension lift
- Aftermarket leveling/lift setups: -12mm to +18mm offset common
Wheel Size Range
- Minimum OEM: 17" (WT)
- Maximum OEM: 22" (High Country, LTZ)
- Off-Road Preferred: 17"-18" for sidewall flex at low pressures
- Show Truck Popular: 24"-26" aftermarket (requires extensive fender mods)

- Front IFS Design: GM's independent front suspension creates tighter front wheel well clearance than solid-axle competitors. Aggressive tire sizes often require a front-end level kit.
- AT4 vs ZR2: Note the ZR2 is Chevrolet only; GMC's equivalent is the AT4 (Sierra 1500 AT4 and AT4X).
- Max Trailering Package: Trucks equipped with the Max Trailering package have reinforced wheel bearings and can tolerate slightly heavier aftermarket wheel/tire combos.
- Silverado EV: The electric Silverado requires special EV-rated tires; standard truck tires will wear rapidly due to instant torque.

Frequently Asked Questions: Chevy Silverado 1500 Tires
What size tires come on a 2024 Chevy Silverado LT?
The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT comes standard with 265/65R18 tires on 18" wheels. Trucks optioned with the 20" wheel package (very common on LT trim) use 275/60R20. The LT Trail Boss variant ships with 275/65R18 on 18" wheels with a 2" factory lift.
Can I put 22-inch High Country wheels on my LT?
Yes. All Silverado 1500 trims from 2014-2026 share the 6ร139.7 bolt pattern and 78.1mm hub bore, so High Country 22" wheels bolt directly onto any Silverado 1500. Used OEM High Country wheels are widely available in the $200-400 range per wheel. Just verify the correct TPMS sensors are installed (GM-specific 315 MHz).
What is the difference between Silverado Trail Boss and ZR2 tires?
The Trail Boss (LT or Custom) uses 275/65R18 tires (approximately 32" diameter) with a 2" factory lift. The ZR2 uses 33ร12.5R18 or 275/70R18 tires (approximately 33" diameter) with DSSV (Dynamic Suspensions Spool Valve) shocks and more aggressive off-road geometry. The ZR2 Bison (AEV edition) adds reinforced skid plates and optional 35" tires. The ZR2 is significantly more capable off-road than the Trail Boss.
How much do Silverado tires cost?
- 255/70R17 (WT): $130-250 per tire
- 265/65R18 (LT): $150-290 per tire
- 275/60R20 (LT 20"): $180-350 per tire
- 275/50R22 (High Country): $220-400 per tire
- 33ร12.5R18 (ZR2): $280-420 per tire
Full set replacement typically costs $700-1,400 installed for most Silverado trims; High Country 22" sets often run $1,100-1,700 installed.
Will bigger tires hurt my Silverado's fuel economy?
Yes, noticeably. Upgrading from 20" to 22" wheels typically costs 1-2 MPG highway. Moving to 33" all-terrain tires costs another 2-3 MPG due to weight and rolling resistance. A Silverado owner going from stock 275/60R20 street tires to 33" BFG KO2s commonly sees highway MPG drop from 23 to 18. For work trucks logging high miles, this adds up to significant annual fuel costs.
What is the Silverado bolt pattern? Same as GMC Sierra?
Yes, the Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 share identical wheel specifications: 6ร139.7mm (6ร5.5") bolt pattern, 78.1mm hub bore, and very similar offset ranges. Wheels are directly interchangeable between these two trucks, as well as with Tahoe, Yukon, Suburban, and Escalade (all GMT T1 platform). This is the largest cross-model wheel compatibility pool in the truck market.
Do I need LT-rated tires on my Silverado?
If you regularly tow more than 5,000 lbs or haul heavy payloads, yes. LT-rated tires have stiffer sidewalls and higher load ratings. For daily driving without heavy loads, P-rated or SL (Standard Load) tires provide better ride comfort. The ZR2, Trail Boss, and AT4 come with LT-rated tires from the factory due to off-road use expectations.
